R.I.P. Chuck Schuldiner

Man, December sucks for metal. Less than a week after Dimebag's death, it's once again time to bow our heads and remember another fallen hero in metal: the one and only Chuck Schuldiner. On this day nine years ago, the Death frontman succumbed to pneumonia, brought on by his weakened state from the chemotherapy he underwent for his brain cancer. Though he is often credited as the unofficial father of death metal, Schuldiner was always very modest, insisting that he didn't deserve the title, and that modesty was what made him such a good role model for his peers. If we all follow his example, the future of metal will be very bright. Evil Chuck may be dead, but his legacy literally lives on in just about all of extreme metal today. Without him we wouldn't have any of this, so just keep that mind, because by doing so you're giving him all the honor and respect that a modest person like him could ask for. Tell us your favorite Death songs, albums, or memories of shows you may have seen them play in the comments, and raise your horns in his memory with this live clip of Death performing their classic song "Crystal Mountain". Rest in peace Chuck, you won't be forgotten anytime soon.
