Yet another new Anaal Nathrakh song!

I don't know about you, but my day just got a little bit brighter, which is kind of ironic, seeing as this new song I'm about to share is very dark and bleak and angry. That's okay though, because those three adjectives add up to Britain's premiere black metal duo Anaal Nathrakh, a band that I'm not shy about sharing my undying love for, so you can imagine my excitement when the band unveiled a new track from their upcoming full length Passion earlier today. The song, called "Paragon Pariah", is just as Anaal Nathrakh-esque as anything else they've put out, so by that logic alone it's awesome, but it also has something else working in its favor. The band's last album, In the Constellation of the Black Widow, was absolutely brilliant, no doubt about it, but everything sounded very heavily layered, like everything was being played through a guitar amp with the gain turned up, so while it was inhumanly brutal, it just didn't sound natural. However, this is not the case this time around; the track sounds very clean and crisp, but no additional effects are thrown in this time, so it actually sounds like a band playing their instruments. Except that band happens to be Anaal Nathrakh, and as such are naturally inclined to write the most evil-sounding music our generation has ever heard. Seriously, I cannot compliment these guys enough, I often think of them as our generation's Slayer, at least in the sense of  how evil and menacing they are in comparison to their peers (which, as we all know, by today's standards is a daunting task to say the least). Aaaaarrrgh I really want this album to come out right meow! Passion is set to hit stores in the US on May 23rd, be sure to mark it on your calendars, because if this song (as well as the last one) is any indication, this is probably going to be the next contender for our Best of the Year list. New Anaal Nathrakh album/song!!!!

I know we're pretty much already wrapped up for the night, but this is news that I can't just sit on. Earlier today, the two-piece black metal masterminds Anaal Nathrakh FINALLY released a new song from their upcoming album Passion, and it's just as sick as I hoped it would be. The band have been hinting at their new album for a while now, so I'm really glad the new song lived up to my monolithic expectations. 2009's In the Constellation of the Black Widow is one of my all-time favorites, and if the rest of the album is as good as this new song then this will be one for the ages. But then again, what else would you expect from the 'Thrakh? Passion is set to come out on May 23rd via Candlelight Records, and I guarantee we'll be all over it as soon as it happens. Remember, if you're in the Pomona, California area you can catch Anaal Nathrakh live as part of the Scion Rock Fest on March 5th, you lucky bastards. Shit Hardcore Kids Wish They Could Play: Episode 6

We call this the "Shut up, it's not Anal" face

 Since this is the last SHKWTCP post for the week, I had no choice but to bring out the big guns. We've seen plenty of incredibly talented bands so far, and there are countless more to come, but none of the past or future bands on the list are quite like Birminham, England natives Anaal Nathrakh.

Perfectly blending the best elements of black metal, grindcore, industrial and death metal, this UK-based duo is, in this writer's opinion, quite possibly the most genuinely evil band in existence. Anaal Nathrakh  are essentially the physical embodiment of misanthropy; you can literally feel their unrelenting hatred for humanity in everything from Mick Kenney's ominous chord progressions to vocalist Dave Hunt's throat-tearing shrieks and mournful clean singing. Basically, if evil could be made into music, it would be Anaal Nathrakh. Now, I know I said that I don't like a lot of black metal, but these guys aren't your typical black metal band, they're everything that's good about the genre and much more, because they put their own flair on it as opposed to doing everything Burzum has already done a thousand times and nothing else. God, that scream at 1:17 still gives me the chills every time. Like I said, pure, unadulterated hatred harnessed and put into music. Constellation is available now via Candlelight Records, as is the rest of their discography, so be sure to pick it up. As per usual with many black metal artists, Anaal Nathrakh are very elusive and don't regularly play shows (they've only been to America once to my knowledge, as part of the Maryland Deathfest a few years ago), but if you happen to be in the London area they're playing a show with Mayhem on Saturday, December 18th. If you have the opportunity to see them definitely don't pass it up, it's a rarer opportunity than you might think, and all the live videos they have suggest that an Anaal Nathrakh show isn't something to sniff at.
